English Encounters in Burlington We invite you to join us in a small, friendly language school in Canada, Burlington, that provides an intimate atmosphere in which to improve your English skills.

The school was founded in 1996 by Lesley Bogue and has grown steadily since then. In 2009 the school was taken over by the Sprachenzentrum Wöhler e.K. Germany. We renamed the school English Encounters in 2010 and relocated to downtown Burlington in April 2010.
All of our teachers are certified ESL professionals with lots of experience. They are chosen for their personalities as well as their qualifications. We believe that friendly, enthusiastic and patient teachers are essential and they want your stay to be happy and educationally rewarding.

Group English CourseStudy English in our Group English Lessons! Our Group English Lessons have an average of eight students in each class. This course is available all year you and can start every Monday!
It includes 20 group lessons of general English, which take place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. (20 lesson program).
Course content: conversation, grammar, listening, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, field trips and more conversation.
Intensive Combo Course
This course contains of 20 group of general English in the morning and 5 lessons of private lessons in the afternoon.
During your 1-to-1 lessons you have the possibility to focus on IELTS, TOEIC or TOEFL preparation, general English, English for Academic Purposes, English for Specific Purposes or Business English.
Business English Course
Study business English and improve your job opportunities in your country. .
We offer group business English lessons for 20 lessons per week.
The focus during the classes may be on: economic, business correspondence, presentations, intercultural studies or exam preparation for the TOEIC test.
Accelerated Combo Course
This course is especially designed for busy professionals who would like to study English very intensively.
The course lasts 120 lessons that can be taken from 3 to 4 weeks if you have time available.
TOEFL Preparation Course
This course is designed to prepare you for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language ) test and includes 10 group lessons of general English plus 10 private test-preparation lessons per week.
The TOEFL test is the most widely regarded English-language test in the wokrd and is often a requirement when applying at universities.
This course is available all year from 2 to 12 weeks.
Certificates and Diplomas
When you arrive, you will take a test to determine your level and to help your teacher prepare your individual study plan. Upon full and successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate and progress report.
Depending on the booked course, you will use a variety of up-to-date course books. In addition, teachers frequently use authentic material to supplement.
We are dedicated to providing the highest quality intensive English courses where the emphasis is on communication.
Social and Cultural Activities
We organize an optional social program for our students with movie nights, games nights, karaoke at the local pub - 19+, picnics, sailing, barbecues, trips to the Niagara, Toronto and other places of interest.
There is an excellent new Y, with swimming pool, gym, team games, rock climbing etc. During January and February we have ice skating, ski days and other snow sports. We have a large video and book library for your use and lots of local and tourist information.
We offer you different types of accommodation to choose from:

• Executive Homestay
All of our host families are carefully chosen by our staff who visit the family and view your bedroom and facilities. You will have a comfortable single room or a double room if you prefer. Many of our homes are within walking distance from the school. You will live as one of the family and have breakfast and dinner each day.
Our executive homestay includes a large room for single occupancy with coffee maker, TV, wireless internet access and private bathroom.
Excursions and Visits
We will also help you plan your trip to Quebec, New York or visits to other parts of Canada.
